When you have been doing your makeup forever, you might think you know a thing or two. Just when you thought you knew Cosmetic/Beauty School says otherwise. These are the 3 things that you have been doing WRONG while applying makeup.
3. Primer
This is a no brainer, if you do not already know about primer it is key to a flawless look, or any look for that matter. As Napoleon Perdis says "Not to Prime is Crime". Think of primer as the base coat, like on your nails. It protects your nail and strengthens it. Primer helps your face for the present, it holds your makeup in place, and strengthens it for the years to come. A key element to applying makeup. Whenever I ask my friends (outside of beauty) what they think, they say "Primer?? What's that??" or "Isn't that just paint??" So I thought I would add this to top three.
2.Eyebrows
First of a key element to eyebrows to make them shaped, it to take a mascara wand, clear mascara is best, and pull the wand on your eyebrow away from the face to give it shape. The clear mascara will hold it in place. In Beauty School, they teach you that eyebrow common sense is to just follow the shape of your brow, however your common sense is WRONG! Of course you should know that, the brow should start above the beginning of your eye, and the crease should be above the end of your iris, but how do you properly fill in a brow? Well, beauty school states that you go the opposite way of hair growth, with powder, which allows the eyebrow to lie on the powder making it more realistic. With an eyebrow pencil you should do the same except after going opposite direction, go forward to cover and imperfections.
1.Eyeliner
It is simple to say you know or thought you knew how to apply eyeliner, but do you really? According to cosmetology people will naturally apply eyeliner from the inner corner to the outer and are finished, this method is WRONG. Whether you are using gel liner, a brush, power, pencil, crayon, or roll up eyeliner this is the right way to apply it. Start in the inner corner and move your lining utensil to the middle of your eye, stop. Next go to the outer corner of your eye and move to already existing liner. This is also is relevant to lower lash liner, or water line. This method, the correct method, will prevent bumps and imperfections and is sure to impress your beauty school teacher.
A lot of this I learned in on http://www.totalbeauty.com/ it is a really cool site you can learn tons about makeup. Hope you enjoyed.
